The Ping Anser is the father of the modern blade putter and no range of Ping putters would be complete without one.

If you can accept the somewhat unconventional looks of the best MOI models, you’re giving yourself maximum benefit.

The deeply milled face of this putter grips the outer layer, instantly starting the forward roll with minimal bouncing and skidding.

How We Tested the Ping Putters

When we begin our search for the best Ping putter on the market, we first look at the specifications of each putter we’re evaluating.

With a platinum and black color scheme, the Anser utilizes a solid contrast along the back cavity to create a clean look at the golf ball that helps move the golfer’s eyes forward.

It also comes equipped with tungsten weighting in the toe and heel to balance the face and help golfers using a slight arc stroke to return the face to square at impact.

As we tested the Anser, we were blown away by the putter’s ability to dial-in perfect distance from short and long distances.

Like the Anser, the Kushin 4 from Ping offers a smaller, more compact shape built for strong arc strokes.

Expect a lightweight aluminum body with a 304 stainless steel soleplate to up stability, plus a dual-density Pebax face insert to feel soft on shorter feel putts and stable from distance. Expect a slightly firmer more responsive feel and feedback from PLD models as there’s no soft urethane face insert like some of Ping’s other 2024 models.

The model has been designed with tour player input to satisfy the trend towards slightly wider, more stable modern blade putters. We consider the grip size, shape, and texture, whilst also paying attention to the shaft and the stability on off-center hits.

While we normally share all the data from our golf club tests, we don’t do that with putters.

Despite its size, the aluminum body provides a lightweight feel, helping golfers find the right tempo on long-distance lag putts.

It delivers many solid features, including a softer feel due to the PEBAX insert, satisfying sound, and consistent ball speeds from various distances. In Europe this model comes as the stock grip on the 2024 models, Ping says it naturally encourages squaring the putter face at impact.

Thanks to there being no soft urethane face insert expect a lovely responsive impact feel and great roll across the greens surface.

    Ping would probably admit their most recent putters haven’t been quite as big a hit as they would have wanted, but the brand's invested significant resources into its premium CNC Milled PLD family so the franchise is starting to grow a sizeable following.

    And the back shaping creates a brilliant golf ball width alignment aid.

    Great for fans of the straight-back, straight-through putting stroke, the Mundy improves overall accuracy for the golfers that need it the most to help lower their scores.

    A favorite of Viktor Hovland, the PLD Milled DS72 putter delivers a mid-mallet shape with the feel and responsiveness of a blade style flatstick.

    For a full-mallet putter, Ping offers their Heppler series to customers. Having tested and played more than 10,000 clubs in his life, what he doesn’t know about golf clubs isn’t worth knowing.

    This putter has been designed to offer stability and forgiveness you would normally see from a mallet, but in the shape of a blade.

    Ping PLD Anser 2D (2024) Putter

    The Anser 2D is very much the modern blade. Whereas Tyrrell Hatton uses a Vault Oslo and Tony Finau plays a PLD Anser 2D, so there’s a good amount of very elite players who earn their crust using Ping putters.

    Probably not but there are plenty of well-heeled golfers who will be. I love the DS72’s muted, sound, and firm no insert feel.
