The part of selection consists of an extremely grueling field exercise, stretching over more than a week, where the candidates are tested on their fitness, field craft and land navigation and the tests are conducted during great stress. The building also facilitates helicopter insertions on its roof.

4.2.1 Pre-training selection fitness tests and events

During the stage 1 and 2 pre-selection training events, there are several physical fitness tests and other events that are carried out.

Till skillnad från andra förband är deras baskermärke inte i metall. Generellt ligger lönen klart över genomsnittet inom Försvarsmakten.

Tänk också på att du får tillgång till förmåner som gäller för internationella insatser, beredskapsersättningar och pendling.

SOG i Sverige – vad gör de på hemmaplan?

Trots att mycket av SOG:s verksamhet sker utomlands har de också uppdrag i Sverige.

The second week consists of psychological tests, similar to those undertaken by fighter pilots. The unit, combined with the Special Forces Command, comprises the Swedish Armed Forces Special Forces (FM SF). In addition to this, there are several special forces support units (FM SOF). Vad är SOG och vad gör de?

SOG står för Särskilda operationsgruppen och är Sveriges elitförband inom specialoperationer.

Det är inte konstigt – mycket av deras arbete sker i skymundan, ofta i andra länder, och bara de mest vältränade soldaterna har en chans att bli en del av detta topphemliga förband. These environments include desert, jungle, sub-arctic and also urban environments.

6.1 Police Support

Legislation that was enacted in June 2006 gave the Swedish Armed Forces, and therefore the SOG, the powers to support the Swedish police in the fight against domestic terrorism.

Du måste också vara mentalt stabil, eftersom mycket av arbetet sker under extrem press.

Operatörerna tränas också i fallskärmshoppning, dykning, spaning och insatsledning – det är alltså ett extremt brett kompetensområde.

Därför är SOG något alldeles extra

Sverige har länge haft en tradition av vältränade och effektiva specialförband, men SOG representerar något nytt: en internationellt erkänd elitstyrka med kapacitet att genomföra komplexa militära uppdrag var som helst i världen.

1.1.2 SOG Service Badge

Another one of the unit’s identifiable pieces of insignia is the unit’s service badge pictured below:

This badge features two identifiable components:

• Two crossed swords
• The crown of the Swedish Royal family.

1.1.3 Field Insignia

The SOG also has a field insignia much like other armed forces units all over the world.

Some parts are more focused on combat tasks (IE1); others are more focused on intelligence gathering (IE2).

Combat tasks can include things such as direct action against opposing forces, hostage rescue, boarding and also recovery of intel-sensitive documents. De är flexibla, diskreta, extremt professionella och ständigt redo.

Oavsett om det handlar om att rädda liv i krigszoner, gripa terrorister eller samla in viktig underrättelseinformation är SOG alltid redo att agera – och det gör dem till något av det mest respektingivande inom Försvarsmakten.

Den varar i två till tre veckor och testar allt från fysisk uthållighet till psykologisk mognad. It was developed by the Armed Forces Board of Traditions and symbolizes the unit´s ability of un-conventional problem solving, effectiveness of duty and clandestine operations, and the asymmetrically positioned star symbolises asymmetric warfare.

The unit insignia, worn by each operator on the combat uniform consists of a winged Norse dagger (Seax) with an asymmetrically positioned six-pointed star.

Personnel within the Swedish Special Operations Forces, SOG and its support units also wear an olive green beret with a black, embroidered cap badge, the only non-metal cap badge within the Swedish Armed Forces.
